Prospeed compressor guard
Hi all,
Stumbled across the compressor guard while looking at the rock sliders
What are people's impressions of it? Worth the money? And can it really be used as a jacking point?
Cheers

I have to remove mine when not going off road because of the knocks and bangs coming from it. But its only a 5 min job and my compressor hasn't been damaged yet whilst being off the beaten track.

Well I’ve just bought one in the sale, so will find out in coming weeks. 😉
There is a reasonable amount of protection in certain areas but the compressor/reservoir cylinder are certainly one area not well protected.RLD CB Bracket

Do not jack off of it. Although it is solid it will deform a bit making it difficult up to impossible to get off/put back on. It’s a tight fit so only needs a millimeter or two difference in shape for it to become a problem for fitting. And it should not rattle.
Had one and it bent a bit when I came down on a rock - hence knowing it can deform but it did it’s job.

I found a thick layer of copper grease between the guard and slider / chassis keeps the knocks and clunks as the body moves on its bushings away. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

I just purchased one of these (as per my above comment) but I'm having trouble fitting it. I've given ProSpeed a call today and just waiting someone getting back to me. The problem I'm having is the two outside mounting points just aren't lining up. I can get one in (nearest rear of vehicle) just about (i.e. a few turns on the thread), but the front one is way out. The compressor guard doesn't seem to be wide enough. Anybody seen this issue before on a Discovery 4. BTW although its a second hand car, no history of accidents or any sign of damage, movement of chassis etc. overall car is in fantastic condition.
Anybody had any similar issues fitting one before? I'm sure ProSpeed will be back to me soon, but wondered if anyone on the forum had seen an issue?

BTW, just realised when I fitted it I had it in off road height up on a set of ramps (front wheel only) for better clearance. Any chance this could have caused or not helped with the alignment issue?

The body is mounted to the chassis with rubber bushes so that some movement is possible. The ramps might have moved the body slightly but probably not enough to cause you a problem.
One of the holes on mine is a bit off target making the bolt a tight fit but it still goes on.
When I fit mine, I jack it up into position to make sure the peg is fully seated in the hole on the chassis and jack is taking quite a bit of weight before I start doing up the bolts.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Thanks Jon, I also just had a call back from Ben @ ProSpeed and they have checked the batch my guard came from to see if it met spec's, with no sign of a problem. I think its going to need a bit more effort from my side to align up and is very likely nothing to do with the ProSpeed guard and more our friend the Discovery
I will certainly try with the jack as you suggest and see if that helps. Thanks.RLD CB Bracket
