After a year of noisy wipers, with various fixes as found on this forum only providing temporary relief, I think I may have solved the problem.
When I had my D2 it had a problem whereby the passenger side blade wouldn't follow the curve of the windscreen properly resulting no wipe on the lower left of the sweep. The cure for this was to clean and lubricate the hinged part of the wiper arm as that area gets a little dry with a fine layer of rust and prevents the spring pulling the blade onto the screen fully.
With this in mind I wondered if reduced spring pressure might also be the D3's problem by not having enough force to make the wiper blade flip/flop as it changes direction. So I took the arms off and allowed a bit of teflon bike chain lube to soak into the hinge. On refitting the arms I can run the wipers with the screen completely dry with no noise whatsoever. Result!
