You can run the FBH independently of the engine by fitting an FBH controller. There's a few types available and each have varying features. When you use it this way it becomes a Park Heater. You can also connect a laptop with leads available from the forum shop and run it using the Webasto software to hopefully diagnose any issues or problems it might be having. Mods:

I presume you can't run it up without some sort of gadgetry then,other than that it needs the engine to run and it's fully automatic and controlled by by the Ambient temperature
