Great thread as my warranty expires in October. Used WD before on my old D3 and they were very good.

Previously thought it was around £2k for a 3 year cover, so keen to find out how you managed it.

Is mileage a factor as mine only got 34k.

Please could you advise what cover you got so I can go armed with the right spec eg:

Luxury care
no betterment
airbags and emissions
etc

Many thanks

I took out warranty direct policy at the beginning of March when the 3 year manufactures warranty ran out.
About 10 days later my crankshaft snapped, last week they authorised the claim which is in excess of 14K.

They don't cover headlamps!

They have agreed to pay for the oil leak on the steering rack found on the free health check at the service this week, so not all bad news and their communication is excellent.

Really good to hear.

EDIT - not that your crankshaft snapped, but that WD covered the bill!

Yes I was pretty relieved myself, they had the engine partially stripped so that the engineer could examine it, went over the service record with a fine toothcomb but in the end they did the decent thing. Hope to have the car back some time in mid May the new engine arrived on Monday and have to wait for workshop time to put it all together. It will be around 2 months without a car by the time it comes back.

What was the mileage?

Ours is 3 years old in 6 weeks and having covered only 24k miles really shouldn’t be cause for concern, but yours is another example of why Land Rovers are always cause for concern Sad

Sorry Fishboy, missed your questions which I presume were directed to my comment about cost.

My car has done 23,500 miles so I ticked the box for 20k-30k miles. At 34k miles yours will be in the next bracket up. I ticked every option (uncapped labour rates, multimedia, emmisions, safety systems, excess £50 and no contribution on parts) and it was less than £1500 for 3 years.

I haven't had any discussion regarding betterment, and I'm not sure this actually exists any more. I read the full terms and conditions doc (sad I know, but it could be important) and couldn't find any mention of it or anything that looked like it. Perhaps that is new as the latest pricing structure also doesn't mention luxury care. I'm presuming that is equivalent of ticking all the coverage option boxes and minimum contribution.

Prices for older vehicles do seem to have risen sharply recently from the quotes that others have shared on here.

Cheers
 Gary

You should see the prices that WD are now quoting for a 3 year, 100,000 mile, Full Fat! Rolling with laughter
 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

Unfortunately snapping cranks don't seem to discriminate between mileage (low or high) or service history. Sad
