Side break lights not working
Hi everyone
I've seen similar posts to this but not exact so apologies if I'm repeating earlier posts.
If I put my headlights on all the bulbs work (indicators are fine too) but when I apply the foot brake only the high level lights come on and not the side ones.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

Bulbs in the right way? Or both blown, fair number of cases where one blowing has immediately resulted in the other popping its clogs in sympathy.

Both bulbs light up when the lights are turned on and all bulbs were changed at beginning of March when it had the MOT. It's only when pressing the brake pedal that the lights don't come on. They are the same bulb aren't they or am I completely stupid?

Just for clarity so we are all singing off the same hymn sheet,
The 12v 5/21w stop and tail bulb in the rear light cluster is one bulb with two filaments, one 5w for the tail/side lights and one 21w for the brake/stop light, so this is possibly confusing you if you didn't know this.
1/ Are you saying the side lights are working but go out when you press the brake pedal?
2/ Or the side lights are working but the brake lights in the rear lamp cluster that also include the reverse and indicator lights do not work when the pedal is pressed but the third light on the top of the tailgate does work?
It’s two different faults.

Thanks for the reply.
If I put the headlights on then two red lights on each side come on. Reversing light and indicators work fine too. If I turn the lights off and then get someone to press the brake pedal then nothing happens at the sides but the top light does come on.

What happens when the lights are switched on and someone presses the brake pedal?

So that's option 2
First thing I would do is change the bulbs

Just checked. All that happens is the top light comes on but there is no change in the side lights.

Thanks. They were all replaced only a few weeks ago but I'll give it a go.
