Key Programming Issue

Has anybody recently experienced an issue with the GAP IIDBT tool when attempting to add a key? I repeatedly get an E7 error more or less immediately (before the unlock button presses). I'm using a brand new genuine LR key and the latest firmware level on the tool. I've contacted the GAP team but, apart from an initial response requesting ECU data, I have had nothing back from them.

Does anybody know what the E7 error relates to? I'm assuming that it's a tool/software error and not related to the vehicle.

This is just a bit frustrating...

IIRC there were issues doing this on 2014 models. Which is probably why GAP have asked you for the ECU information.

Mine is a 13MY. There are updates for the KVM but I don't want to start reflashing things unless it's absolutely necessary. I have 20 plus years of experience with a major motor manufacturer on vehicle diagnostics, programming and reprogramming and know how things can occasionally be a bit volatile! I don't want to cause any problems on a system that is currently working fine. I'll have to wait and see what GAP come back with.

It would help if you filled in your profile.
Land Rover changed the KVM, not sure in which year so that it won't let you enable another key.

I've been in contact with Patrick at GAP and the KVM has now been successfully reflashed to the latest level using the custom software provided. That was a worrying 1 minute and 10 seconds I don't mind admitting!!!!!!

Now awaiting further instructions from Patrick but this is looking much more hopeful.

The support from the GAP team has been pretty impressive so far.

The new key has now been successfully programmed to my vehicle and is fully functional.

Patrick at GAP has been really helpful and quick to respond. I am very impressed.
