I missed the whole thing, as I was on a plane home.
Really pleased to see so many people passionately supporting their monarchy and their country, and having a good time on such an lovely summers day.
Nobody else can do a national celebration like us Brits! I’m proud and glad that the world wants to watch.

For clarity, I watched the whole event in UHD and Dolby Atmos at full blast...it was a true spectacle and I really enjoyed it. We felt like we were there and it thoroughly vindicated my tech expenditure 8)
The fact that they provided a cross culture of music... and the preacher that stole the day, was very refreshing. The DoE was very restrained
For all the spectacle though and as much as I am happy for them, love our history and some wonderful historical palaces, castles etc.....it's 2018 FFS and there is no place for their status to be enshrined within the constitution in an heraldic system. I'm not pushing to remove them totally but they should be self sufficient with acquired lands fully returned to the people.

Which lands should be given back and to which people? Some of the Queen's properties are her own having been bought by her or passed down to her. In that regard she's no different to anyone else.
Most of "her" land is actually Crown land and is not hers at all. It belongs to the Sovereign (the Sovereign legally owns it) but the Sovereign has no power over its management or other control. Note that the Sovereign is the "job" not the person. Thus, the Crown land already belongs "to the people". You may not be allowed to go where you please on that land but that applies to lots of land owned by "the people".Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Here’s a JLR royal wedding related snippet. The E Type that Harry and Megan drove to the reception was the Project Zero. Converted to electric power by JLR.

Can’t believe i’m actually going to add to this thread...but...
I went through the TV listings that are provided over here and it was covered live from 9:30 till then end on the following channels that i noted - 3 French, 1 Austrian, 1 Swiss, 1 Portuguese, 1 Italian, about 10 German channels plus BBC and Luxembourg including full live radio and live streaming. And th last time i noticed it so quiet in the city center on a sunny Saturday was when it was Diana’s funeral !
Pretty impressive and not aware of any other “Royals” that can pull that type of coverage. So point is...I think the Royal Family actually does have a global reach which surely must have a net positive impact. And based on quite a lot of the posts in this thread it seems to be appreciated more outside of the UK than in it
Or maybe the above is a”pointless post” MY2008 D3 - It got me hooked...gone
MY2012 D4 - It kept me hooked...gone
MY2007 D3 - Mid-Life crisis toy continues driving me to bankruptcy...
MY2018 "D5" Si6 - But is it a "true" LR...discuss...but now gone
Back in a D4 with a lot of extras....

Saw them in that Gareth ...looked fantastic
Saw the D5 quite often ...but that appears as hated as Megan seems to be by some ...the local residents have had a street party for all previous royal events except this one. I shall not repeat the gossip as to why

It’s good exposure for the D5. The more it’s seen as the vehicle of choice for the police and secret service in these situations the better.
