IID Tool Question?

Hi

We've an 07 Disco 3 and it's been a bit troubled by EAS issues recently. They look sorted now but we're off to France for hols soon and I'm thinking of buying an IID just to help if we get any issues.

Question is are there any parts of diagnostics that the IID won't do?

I'm thinking particularly about EAS issues.

Will it do the recalibration that seemed to sort out the last issue we had?

Many thanks for any replies.

Adri

There isn't much an Iid tool BT won't do, you will also need a mobile phone and /or an Ipad to operate it to its best, configure it to the vehicle and get used to it (read the manual) before you set off Thumbs Up
If you should encounter another LR with problems it will also do a remarkable amount of diagnostics without being licensed to it, enjoy your trip!
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

On the GAP site in the list of function it says that the IID BT is Vin-Locked for suspension calibration. What does that mean?

Also what is EGR Patching? My mechanic says I'll have to do the EGR before the next MOT as they have changed the rules. What I'm thinking of is using blanking plates and then flashing the computer to get rid of the engine warning light. Is that a sensible cost effective way of getting round the new rules?

Cheers

VIN-locked - the IIDTool BT is locked to the VIN of the car you first use it on. If you sell your car but want to keep the IIDTool it an be unlocked for a fee then you can use it on another.

IID tool question

Have just picked up a 2002 full fat RR for SWMBO my D3 is factory base coil spring manual D3. you indicated the iid tool is vin locked for suspension issues and will do lots of items in the unlocked state.
Question if I buy one locked to the RR can the tool also work on my base coil sprung D3 ?

Correct, but diagnostic functions only - read and clear fault codes etc. But you can buy a 2nd license to have the tool working for both cars. Check the GAP website.

Re EGR patching. Yes that's a common approach. Use the search function on here, you'll find all the information you could ever want. The IID tool can also help with that. You need to buy an ECU patch from BAS and the IID is used to apply it to your car. Or there are plenty of people who can map it out for you to turn off the light once you've blanked them.
