Warranty Direct - new engine
I posted a few weeks back moaning about the excessive cost of renewing a Warranty Direct policy and I now have to eat humble pie.
Since then my engine has gone pop in a bad way on my 2009 Discovery 3 at 99k miles.
As someone on the forum suggested it was the oil pump failing that caused the problems.
Warranty Direct has just approved £10800 for a brand new engine from Land Rover to be fitted !! Although it's taken a little while to sort out they have been brilliant from the very first phone call.
I have to pay about £500 towards the cost as over the course of the warranty I will have claimed over their value for my car(they will have paid out £12090 in total) but I'm very happy with that!
I guess they may not be the cheapest but when the sh*t hits the fan they are excellent, I think I would have written my car off without them.

Excellent news.
Just out of curiosity, and not knocking WD, how come £500 & not the standard £50 excess?
PS Ignore that, just seen.

Good for you!
I am always curious so I will ask you since you have been through it:
What paperwork do they check and how thoroughly? (Do they want all service bills since you owned it, just the stamped service book etc?)

And as your contributing to the cost then presumably you will get a 2 year LR guarantee on the new engine?

Phillip1972 - I had the warranty for 2 years and they just needed proof of last service, mot certificate and that's it. They have paid out every time I have claimed without quibble - new injector, egr and suspension compressor.
BBDisco3 - Although the engine is being fitted by a very good Indy I am hoping it will still come with the 2 year warranty - it's the brand new engine as Land Rover had no recon engines.
Cheers for the thumbs up Barney67 and & DSL!

Same here, just nervous about the renewal cost in Sept 19 when it runs out.

Land Rover don't have any brand new engines left. Only recon units My D3 Build Thread
