Bit more progress today
Put a small smear of coppaslip before pressing the bearing back in , did press it back just a touch after I saw it wasn’t quite true either side of the hub
Puller was a godsend to use and made life so much easier
Drop links put up a fight but not for long
Next job will be to cut the brake pipe nut off and reflare it
Hope these pics will help others
Should then be ok to fit the new upper wishbone
Ps can see now when anyone mentions wishbones a sharp intake of breath is taken then RUN

Looking good mate. I need me one of those kits. I’ve been having an hour on mine today, will be writing up my thread soon. I take my hat off to you attempting those upper arms with the body on they look a right PITA. Jarrod

Thks mate
Indeed found that kit a godsend and made one job considerably easier, didn’t personally wish to mess around with sockets etc
Also been reading up about these power brake bleeders that plug into air compressors
At least if I get this drivers side done and then get it through it’s mot on the 20th july, will take a lot of pressure off when doing the drivers side later on
Will keep an eye out on ur thread
PS, shame im not closer as I would have really liked to have seen the body etc coming off, trouble is temptation would be too much not to pick up a spanner and giving a hand
PS , if i may add , if u haven’t , get some decent long and ratchet 18mm spanner’s

What Are the views regarding brake power bleeders that u attach to an air compressor plse
Many thks
Don't waste your money, if you have the IId tool use the brake bleeding method on the tool, or just use a good bleed bottle and pump enough through to clear all the air out.

Hi Flack
Couldnt agree with u more, with this being my first wishbone replacement it’s been a steep learning curve and also having to order bits as I’ve gone along
Must admit found using a dremil to cut the drop links off were very useful as I couldn’t get the recip saw and didn’t have any metal discs for my angle grinder
Need a nice plasma cutter
Massive respect to u and geoff. for doing these on a regular basis
I’ve got the passenger side to do yet

Thks , always good to know ref tools and what there like
That’s why I thought if there would be any interest about having a tool review section
Been Trying to remember years ago about a tip using wax to help remove seized bolts , melting it onto the threads
See those induction heaters are also serious money
Surely the bolts are high tensile on the suspension ???
At least with the body off u can get some serious bits of kit in there

I am a bit of a tool fanatic I have to say. I’d love one of those induction tools but like you said, serious money.
Pass on the wax thing, never heard of that before. I always use copper slip. It I have had problems with that too. D1 radius arms being a noted example. If your going to throw the bolts and get new ones I try to cut the crusty “last few” threads off where possible so that the nut doesn’t have to try and get through all the rusted crud before coming off.
I’m all for a tool section ! Jarrod

Indeed I also always use coppaslip , that wax was an old tip I heard of many moons ago, suppose to aid removing old rusty seized bolts, alas to this day I’ve never tried it
With the body off will u just put some acetylene on any of the bolts that have seized
Think we all end up tool fanatics seeing we own landies

I don’t have an Oxy/acetalyne set but do have blow lamps. I’ve never failed with brute force before now Jarrod

The induction heater is serious money but if you’re a shop it’ll help out immensely. The Indy I had doing the rear ARB bolts said that he’d always wanted an excuse to buy one.
