Rust starting to come through - Rear Wheelarch
Hi Guys,
This has been showing for a while now and slowly getting worse, just after some advice on how to attack it?
Hopefully the image shows below!
Thanks in advance

If you take the plastic wheel arch off you will find loads of mud sand.
Bit late for you. Others be warned

Arch liner off, plastic sill cover off, get jabbing with a pointy tool like a screwdriver. If it’s not weak it will hold, the rust can be ground off and treated/repainted with something that converts the rust, treat the inside with cavity wax. If it goes through then it’s going to be cutting out and welding in new sections. Having scrutinised mine this week there are a few areas that will bite us in the years to come.Jarrod

That only looks like surface rust to me, as said get the sill guards off for a clean/check.
Remove rust and treat/paint then apply motorcycle aerosol chain grease inside the sills, gets in all the nooks and crannies and will last for the a good few years.

dont forget to look at the underneath bit too. Mine was surface rusty behind the rear heater coolant pipes (HSE) that ran don the lenght of the inner sill due to JLR's inability to paint and protect a car properly! Not such a Disco Newbie now!

Buy a point sandblaster. Get all the rust away and seal it in with 2k epoxy primer, before colour and clear. SprayMax 2k rattle can is the easiest way for DIY. Spray the cavity with rust penetrating oil.
