Thanks Pete, good to know......I am already unpopular enough at home and can't turn the volume up to drown out the complaints. I can't deny that it worked fine initio I touched it

Today was a long day at work, but have just checked the voltages at the large plug.
Battery power - Pin 11: 12.41v unplugged and 12.19v connected with radio on and off
Infotainment relay switch - Pin 8: 12.41v unplugged and 0.64v connected with radio on and off
Both tests with engine off.
We have just booked a trip home to England in September.....visit the relatives and shop for Land Rover goodies

It has been a few months, but the solution turned out to be straightforward. Here in Edmonton, we are nearly in winter and the morning temperature this week dropped to -15. The LR3 started but didn't like it, so I switched the battery out, despite it reading in the green on my load meter.
The stereo came back to life
I had not thought it could be the battery, as all seemed good. Clearly not good enough....
Now it's time to get stuck into the random suspension faults on both our LR3 and 4. No chance of boredom setting in owning Land Rovers!
