Autoglym Leather Care Balm fixes sticky steering wheel.. |
|
Hi, not exactly an earth shattering revelation, but I cleaned my worn sticky horrible steering wheel this evening then applied loads of Autoglym leather care balm, and it now looks way better, and is smooth/soft and not sticky in the slightest! Amazing how much difference it makes.

Yep, that’s what I always use on my steering wheel. Good stuff!

I used autoglym leather cleaner to clean it, but I’m sure any non-branded leather cleaner or gentle soap would work just as well mate

I use a magic eraser on mine every few months (99p for two from Home Bargains), strips off all the 'whatever' that makes it shiny, comes up as a soft, matt leather finish again. I then use a bit of Collinite No.855 to protect it. D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

I used packs of baby wipes from the pound shop to shift all the shiny black stuff. Loads of black came off too It's more like a matt finish now. Looks way better

Once had an accident body shop return my car having done gloss treatment to a matt finish dashboard.
After getting over my frustration, I removed the gloss covering with leather cleaner; worked a treat

Just used a magic sponge with some leather cleaner, loads of black came off and the grain is starting to reappear in the leather. Might have another go and try an get more grain back. It is not shiny any longer.

Most parents keep a pack of wet wipes in the car, they're great for wiping down the steering wheel. I do mine at least once a month. I can't believe the grime that comes off...

I just wash my hands if they're mucky. That way there isn't anything to transfer to the wheel. Seems like a really simple solution to me... Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Top tip, thanks.
One can only imagine the bacteria having a right old time on all steering wheels. A bit like a phone screen, I suppose.
There’s a car detailer guy on YouTube who gives a very good overview of cleaning steering wheels. Riveting stuff 2016 Discovery 4 Landmark SDV6
