"outside of parts that wear"

Thats the killer.

In reality, you could say EVEYTHING has wear, therefore no payout.

Letc be honest its crank, crank and er crank that matters, the rest is just pocket change in comparison.

Got a quote from WD of £2075 with 37k on the clock coming up 4 years old.

Haven't tried anyone else yet as always found WD to be very good over the years when I had my D3.

One thing I am surprised about is that I haven't had a chaser phone call even after asking for two separate quotes a month apart... Maybe GDPR has got them... but the funny thing is that I do want a call to haggle Very Happy

I can’t comment on that until I have experienced a claim. WW have assured me I have the highest cover, and when I reflected on what they told me, WD appears to provide the same... will need to sit tight based on that for now.

Let’s hope the first is not a biggy! Shocked

Just reading my WD policy and it clearly states that cover extends to any insured part that has failed due to wear & tear . this excludes service items such as brake discs , pads shoes, manual clutch parts , exhausts etc. Brake bands clutches etc in auto boxes are covered.

After a fair amount of time reviewing what after market warranties are available decided to pre book a Warranty Direct one to start the day the manufacturer warranty runs out. Looked at warranty wise but didn’t get a good feeling price started high but dropped as discussed, don’t think the claim limit wouldn’t cover a new engine, LR extended may not cover a new engine as allegedly a known fault, warranty direct have moved away from start high and haggle downwards to a fix price modular approach, so ticked all the boxes, selected 0% contribution, £50 excess uncapped labour, 3 year’s cover, paid a small holding deposit which fixes the price and cover until the start date next year.

Think I'm going to go for Warranty Direct in the morning.

Good luck! Seems like a good decision based on price if both end up equal in terms of cover
Thumbs Up

So there is no haggling anymore?

I have tried 3 time during last few phone chats and they are solid in saying no discount only what you get from the website.

Yeah just called them too and they wont budge even for a historic customer of 5 years...

Playing around with the calculator now. Big difference between capped and uncapped - thing is - only other place I would take my D4(apart from a main dealer) is still £108 per hour and way above their £72 per hour top.

My last D3 had a wiring fault which took 4 days to fix - so at £36 cost per hour to myself would be over £1200 in labour. The £500 difference between capped and uncapped don't seem so bad now....
