EPB HELP!
Hello.
Got a amber and red flashing handbrake light + alarming sound when driving.
Not been able to read codes but tried "everything"
The brakes are new, and not long ago adjusted the right way. Worked great until suddenly the handbrake fault message.
-Epb module not seized up, applying power directly on the motor it works fine.
-Tried another handbrake switch.
-Changed brakeswitch.
-All fuses tested/checked.
-checked continuity from epb module connector-epb switch-instrument cluster-ignition-key in- 2xGnd-2xVbatt with no volt drop.
Not sure what to do next, can it be Bus related? Or the circuit board inside the EPB module?
Will try to get the codes read, but not sure it will get me any further.
Grateful for any suggestions.

Also, pulling the switch nothing happens, just bong and red light flashing.
If I pull fuse 41 and let the car to sleep I can drive the car without red light and alarm. Then its just the amber light.

Hi LR3
The fault possibilities are quite numerous, and therefore so are the solutions as to be of any meaningful help without codes! You say the EPB motor cycles with direct power but, (1) what actually happens when you use the handbrake switch? (2) Does the handbrake release when you use hill start? A little more specific information on what's happening when using the switch would be helpful in working through the problem. Did you replace the handbrake and brake switch with a new or used one's?

Thanks for replying.
1. When I pull the handbrake switch, the red light flashes and there is a bong. No sound from the epb module. It doesn't try to apply the handbrake.
2. Because of the above I haven't been able to try it. The car is on axle stands now. I could apply the handbrake directly on the motor and put the car back on the ground.
Brakeswitch is brand new, and the handbrake switch is my old that I swapped out for a D4 one. Worked when I removed it 1 year ago.

Ok if power to the EPB module operates the motor I assume you are happy that the handbrake is fully engaged on both wheels! In any case it sounds like you're going to need a code reader, otherwise you will have to go through all the brake related circuits and components, and then, you might still come up empty handed!
As you already have the car off the road you might as well check all the brake related fuses including ABS, HDC etc and then connectors to the EPB module, the control unit, and the brake and hand brake switches. Unscrewing the HB cables at the back plate will confirm if a cable has broken but if as earlier you are happy the motor is engaging the shoes then this is irrelevant. Removal of the rear discs will allow you to inspect the condition of the shoes and related components. However, all this could be made a lot simpler for you if you can get your hands on a code reader. Basic but good ones specially for JLR can be had for about €100. It really would take a lot of the above mentioned actions out, as well as no end of frustration for you.

As far as I know the force sensor lives in the EPB module. Apart from checking the electrical connections I can only suggest you reset the brake shoes (see Bodsys brake bible) and then see if you can run the bedding in procedure.

I just had the same issue after hitting a speed bump. Resetting with IID didn't make it go away so I too had to pull the fuse.
The next day, I replaced the fuse and reset all faults.
When i turned ignition on I got a message saying park brake not on and told me to apply foot brake and pull switch to activate. pulling the switch up as normal didn't do anything.
I then held the switch in the up position until i heard the EPB activate. Now everything is fine again.
For the record, my code was:
Parking Brake
C1A00-4B ( B8 ) Control module - System internal failure - over temperature
I'll now be stripping, cleaning, lubricating and adjusting the EPB as it's not been touched in just over a year2005 Discovery 3 HSE

Did you have both of the lights and alarming sound when driving?
I will take off both discs and inspect when I got the time. But I changed everything and adjusted about a year ago. Anyway, if I find something wrong, brakewire jumped off or something, the epb module is not trying to apply at all. So is there anyway to reset the module?
Next possibility is the force sensor being broken or something? Can't find them being sold separately, so I guess it is a new module then...

Yes. Constant amber exclamation light and flashing red P light with constant annoying beep.
Fuse is in main panel next to the battery. Pink 30a square fuse no.FL8

I have had the battery off for some hours, didn't make any difference. But will try to pull the main epb fuse then, and se. Thank you.
Now I drive without fuse 41, it takes away the red light and sound

If your planned efforts bring no success it may be a possibility you have a jammed EPB although I would have thought it unlikely as your shoes are in the released position. Disco_Mikey takes you the procedure here. https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/epb-repair-...91299.html
If nothing else, it might provide you with some helpful ideas in resolving the issue.

I don't think its possible that its seized. The module was in full released position when I opened it. And it works with power directly on the motor.
I'm going in a 1500km trip tomorrow, so don't think I will anything up now I'm ordering a IID BT and continues the search when I get it.
But thanks for input so far
