Battery Condition Question
When I start my D3 after it has sat for a few days in this cold weather, I get the Special Programs Not Available alert flash up after starting. The car starts instantly at the moment but I wonder if the special programs alert is a sign of the battery being in decline?
The alert is only on the display momentarily but I don't want to take chances with a dodgy battery as winter takes hold in the next few months.
If a new battery is needed this one looks good value;
Ive just ordered one from Tanya so fingers crossed. They come with a 4 years g/tee so i will give it a go Its got to be better than the one I have on at the moment The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

ClassiKfan: you may be as well off buying a Ctek charger if you haven’t got one, the Exide 019 Premium battery is recommended from Tayna order before 2pm for next day delivery, may be slightly longer near Christmas.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I’ve been getting this since I got my disco last January but only have had issues once, where my wife left the lights on in and out the car for a few hours.
I have now started looking for a new battery, as I’m bored of the voltage drops causing everything to switch off and occasionally reset, but my experience would suggest you can take your time over this.
Kind regards
Andy

Even a new battery can do this if it is not kept charged to near full capacity, again a good battery charger may be a better bet, a fully charged battery will last much longer than one that is part charged.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
My c-tec is worth it’s weight in gold and is regularly used on the 5 cars in our family. It was one of my better buys The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

I leave mine on overnight once a week during cold weather, they can’t overcharge.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I have a C-Tec didn't realize I should use it every week? I'll start charging regularly and see how it goes.

I have never before owned a car that is so battery voltage sensitive as the D3.
A great help is one of the elcheapo battery volt meters that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

Hi, I’ve got a Halford’s one on mine, don’t know how old it is but is does fine in cold weather, and will run the fbh for half an hour and no issues.

I'd be interested to get advice from my learned friends.
Thanks
Stuart
That battery is only 800 CCA whereas a LR3 Diesel requires 950 CCA

Hi mate
Ur not wrong there ref being sensitive inc being so power hungry
After sorting out my battery drain my exide will now last 3 x weeks before it needs charging , I monitor it with the box I fitted through the 12s socket wiring in the boot as it improved the Bluetooth range , then through an app on my iPad
Will send me an alarm when it’s getting low and then indeed just plug my CTEK in , really pleased I fitted the socket on the front of the house for the ctek lead, saves having to lift the bonnet or wire through the letter box
Next battery I’ll buy a 019 yuasa and won’t get one online again, as if there’s any issues easier to change
Also handy having the split charge system

You're up late Gary?
Where did you get the battery gadget from, I'd like to be able to monitor my battery so I know when to give it a charge.
