Is 5w30 fully syn C3 ok to use in 2010 D4 3.0TDV6 with DPF ?
Hi all i'm new to the D4 world with a 2010 reg 2011 spec with dpf 3.0 tdv6 hse with 68k,
I have already given it an oil & filter change using Mahle filter & 5w 30 fully syn C3 low ash low saps oil from work but now reading mixed things about oil
I would like to know whether its ok to use 5w 30 fully synthetic C3 engine oil as we have 205 litre barrels at work ? i will be changing it every 6 months or 3k as only do 5-6k a year in it
I see in the autodata & manual it says a ford spec 5w 30 fully synthetic but would the C3 be ok obviously its a newer spec oil & probably to good is it ?
I have asked few people fellow mechanics & an independent LR specialist & got mixed answers ?
Thanks in advanced.

Given the propensity for crank failure and no clear reason, I would stick with an oil that meets the exact specification for the engine, right down to ensuring the oil used meets the requisite Ford specification. It’s not worth the risk.

You need a C1 spec oil for D4 DPF
Thanks for the reply, So the 5W30 C3 is fine for the actual engine itself but not as good as C1 for the DPF even if changing regularly

There’s a vast difference in the price of C3 compared to C1, so there must be something very special in it! - probably liquid gold or someone in the supply line is making killing on it.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
