The Dreaded Oil Pump Failure!

ive read several threads and various resources regarding the oil pump failures on the TDV6 engine. what i haven't been able to discern, is which year of MY engine / vin code are susceptible to this failure? speculation leads me to believe it had something to do with the 07 vehicles?
I wouldn't think twice, if you have a car which is as old as 2005, then fit a new oil pump if you are proposing to keep it and want to sleep well, and it hasn't been updated already.

The lower pic shows the parts I removed from my 55 plate D3 some time ago. MY '07 and '08 are the worst for failures of this sort, but when the likes of Disco_Mikey and Flack had encountered failures on earlier MY's, that's when I decided to do mine. There is no guarantee your oil pump has been replaced, it would be wise to check whether it has, and if not, replace with the latest type ASAP. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.
