France this year
Whose heading to France this year (with tintent). Was thinking about using usual crosing (porstmouth - Caen) as if there is any with traffic after brexit its more likely to be dover.
Might get a IDP as well just in case - only £5.50 from the post office

Just make sure you get the right one.
From RAC
Which IDP will I require?
1949 IDP: If you are travelling to Ireland, Malta, Spain or Cyprus, you may require a 1949 IDP. The 1949 convention IDP is valid for 12 months.
1968 IDP: If you are travelling to all other EU states, you may require a 1968 IDP. The 1968 convention IDP is valid for three years, or for however long your driving licence is valid, if that date is earlier.
1926 IDP: A 1926 IDP is not required in any EU state. However, it is required it if you plan to drive in Mexico or Somalia.

WE have been advised that a green card is more than likely to be required and an IDP
But they aren't sure

D&G - to your neck of the woods
so 1968 IDP should be OK - I have always requested a green card from my insurers anyway.

It is an issue that nobody does know. I would say having both is a good idea. Can't imagine there is much of a charge for a green card.An honorable defeat is better than a dishonorable victory.” ― Millard Fillmore

I heard Britanny Ferries on the news earlier, though sounds like it it’s not your route, and around Easter, but worth noting :

saw the stuff ths morning about Brittany - will keep a close eye.
On manufactures warrenty breakdown cover, I have never relied or used it abroad as it doesnt recover the caravan all the way home. When I checked with LR they would recover your car and 'van but only to the closest dealer.

Looks like he'll need the 1968 IDP if it's France he's going to.
