It’s love/hate relationship that has started to dawn on me! However this forum has been super helpful. In fact now that she is behaving herself and this niggly faults have now cleared she’s getting a wash and polish! It is valentines Day after all

I had an affair with a D3 it lasted 12 years and I really, really miss her but the D4 is like a new woman, fantastic, really in love with her especially now I’ve got stop-start working It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi Ceekay
Thought I'd chip in my experience of Stop/Start not working. It went in for this to be fixed just before the 3 year anniversary , under warranty as hadn't worked for some time. At the second visit they advised they made a software change so that the threshold for the level of charge required in the batteries was lowered. Basically it needed a charge level that was never attained. After this change the stop start worked properly and has done for about 9m now.
I did have a problem late last year where I got a warning light stating Eco Stop start not available. This turned out to be a failed small stop start battery which I replaced (details on the forum of the one required). I diagnosed the failure by checking voltage level. The warning light went away after changing and stop start has once again worked faultlessly for the last few months.
So if you're not getting any warning lights , get it to the dealers (hopefully still in warranty) and get them to check it.
I love mine, I have already made the decision that when (or if) the engine goes I will replace it and keep the car. I have spent time love and money getting it right, all the little niggles done and replaced major parts ( Gearbox, diffs, Props and such.)as its an ongoing thing. It is also a social life and a hobby, I don't need the car (as i have others) but I want the car if you know what i mean because of the feeling of well being and fun I get when driving it. Don't get me wrong I like D4,s but I don't want one because all the things I want my D3 to do it does (Camping, greenlaning and people carrier for family and friends) Maybe when the D7 or 8 is out I will get a D4 but for now Larry is my best mate The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

Cheers Gary,
Yep no warning lights but IID Tool states the dual battery relay is stuck open or closed so most probably that but you would think the warning light would be on so maybe what you suggested also
Its a case of I don't want to use it, I just want it to work.....OCD D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

I took the advice of peeps on here and tried a new main battery(already fitted a new small one) even though the battery was giving good readings and no problems, I couldn’t believe it, it’s worked a treat so far
The stop start has never worked, I have never wanted it to as I didn’t have any fault lights on, only time I had a warning light was when the small battery went down, I fitted a new one, the fault light went out but the SS still did not work. The good thing is fuel consumption has gone down by 6mpg, it’s early days but I am seeing figures I haven’t seen since parting with the D3 over a year ago.
The only other possibility is that I did a hard reset while the battery was off as part of the procedure. It might just be worth trying that before fitting a new battery It can when others can't,
