Joan Bakewell wasn’t particularly clever nor beautiful, it was a false media hype at the time. Plenty of the present generation that are both, try Natalie Portman.

Not bright? Working class girl who won a scholarship to Cambridge when going to any University was an achievement. As bright as most of those already mentioned.
Anyway, it’s all hype, it doesn’t change the fact that she was the first given that epithet as far as I recall.
