I'm a bit late to this subject, but a I have a question regarding the red and blue wires.
When people are connecting to the red/ blue. Are they retaining the existing circuit and simply creating a T connection with the red and blue. Or are the cutting the red and blue joining their audio connection to just one of the now free ends of the red and blue pair?
If it is the latter, then which side of the plug connects to the head unit? Is it the upper set of wires or lower set of wires at the plug?

1st:
I also like to create an aux input in the 2007 D3.
There are NO wires for an aux in the central unit behind, just for the 12V and 2x seat heating.
The question in the previous post is interesting! Do I have to create a 'T or Y' welding or simply disconnect the wires that run to ... somewhere?
Isn't it simpeler to connect from the back of the stereo unit (CD-400 basic)?

Today I connected my AUC input in my car.
- Disconnected the radio
- Welded an audio cable to the stereo connector RED/Right + BLEU/Left + BLACK/Ground.
- On the other side of the cable i welded an Audio Jack 3mm plug and let it come out in the upper
glove compartiment with extra wire.
- Mounted the stereo back in the console
- Tested with a MP3 player and the stereo in AUX
> Everything works perfect! about 30min of work, that's it.
Hope this post helped for other people also.

Just make the isolation free and weld an audio wire on to the wiring as follow:
-Blue = LEFT
-Red = RIGHT
-Black = Ground
Make shure after you have welded to isolate the cables properly.
Connect an audio device to any audio-plug you prefer at the other side of the cable.
Turn on the radio
Push AUX and enjoy your own music from the device.

Just thought I would share my findings on the aux socket.
I use my mobile phone as my ipod and unfortunately the landie has low volume input on aux as does my new phone. The result is volumes and distortion to the max.
Solution......
I wired a small inline pre-amp http://www.ebay.com/itm/Install-Edge-ALD-I...5661319%26 (sometimes referred to as a line driver) in to the 12 pin socket on the back of my 6cd changer stereo (pins 7, 8 and 12 if memory is correct). It's important that the preamp is adjustable and with the one I fitted it was set to about 50-60% to reach a similar volume to that of the radio or CD. You'll need two identical cables which are 3.5mm jacks at one end and twin phonos at the other. I cut one of the 3.5mm jacks off and spliced the three cables on to the wires into the plug shown here by evo8
I previously used a phono plug into the rear aux socket to boost the volume but kept losing them every time the car went in for a service . As a more permenent solution I carefully dismantled the black socket shown here by Wiggs
and cut out the contacts that short the socket. That way the system thinks there is a plug permanently fitted in the socket.

Picking my D3 up tomorrow afternoon and in the rear there are 4 small consoles with what look like media controls on them and 3.4mm socket what are these for? its an SE spec with sat nab but does not have rear screens any ideas lads?
also it does not have the 3.5mm socket at the rear of the console either?

Rear audio controls are what you're referring to first.
As an SE with high-line audio it should have the AUX socket 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
