Check your oil there is no low level warning
Afternoon all
It would appear that there is NO low oil level warning on the RR Sport, a friend of mine has lost his SDV6 engine due to insufficient oil and there was no warning given by the car.
So check your oil level regularly.

I am in a similar position from a major oil leak that happened quite quickly. Has he had the engine checked out by JLR? They are asking me to get mine into them.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

There has to be a serious and sudden issue with an engine that consumes 6 ltrs of oil. If it was a leak you'd imagine this would be obvious by the growing black stain on the parking spot. Or, the clouds of blue smoke as the oil fly's past the turbo seals / piston rings. There are many on here who's oil level never fluctuates between servicing, my own D3 included. Could be that either the turbo oil feed or return pipes have split, amongst a several other possibilities yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Seem to know what the fault was. No oil leak prior to me starting my last journey (all on another thread). Just wondering if JLR have had this SDV6 and made any comments on it. I am in communication with them about mine, and they want me to get it into a dealer.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

I assumed everyone checks their oil every 600 miles as instructed 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

In Rnclaytons case, checking the oil level every 10 miles wouldn’t have been frequently enough D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

I assumed everyone checks their oil every 600 miles as instructed ?
I now do it, as a matter of principal, every time I fill with fuel, so every 300 or so miles if I run it down to a quarter tank full. ( I also check Ad-Blue range as a matter of interest )
Nether my previous D3, nor the current D4, have used sufficient oil between changes to warrant topping up. I should add that I do an oil & filter change mid-way between JLR's recommended services.
