The Grand Tour - Mountain Climb

Just finished an evening watching TGT. I cannot help but wonder, is the road driven from France to Italy an open or closed road?
I’d like to detour the family holiday this year and drive that one, it looked amazing.

Does anyone have any thoughts on trying it out?

Ask in the Francophone section. We have a few members who live in that neck of the woods who are very active offroad.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I’ve not seen it all but from the fact they messed about a lot in Bourg-St-Maurice I’m pretty sure it’ll be the Col de Petit St Bernard (Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo from Italian side).

Shut at this time of year, open roughly May-October.

Nice in summer 8)

OK so I've watched the rest, and the off road bit is out of La Rosière up to le Fort de la Redoute Ruinée:

Looks like this today: https://www.larosiere.net/en/webcam/le-fort/

In true TG/TGT style it's not quite on the France-Italy border Whistle
