I could wind the knob up and down, but it wouldn’t twist, and wouldn’t allow a Park signal back to the CJB, so car wouldn’t start...
New switch, Learn VIN procedure, car started fine
If I have time, I’ll dismantle it and have a browse inside My D3 Build Thread

I picked up a secondhand one last summer for my 2014 D4 and it works perfectly without getting my IID out of the box. Stu

Mine wasn’t vin locked apparently there is a diode on the interlock that fails preventing them operating, it is possible to lock it in the off position with a small screw, I ran with mine in this position for several weeks before fitting a new one and started to wonder why it was needed, later found out it is possible to rotate the knob without pressing the brake peddle which can make a very good anti theft device as the engine will not start unless the knob is in Park.
My old one is sat in the garage if it’s any help! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I followed a video on YouTube and it was pretty easy, sorry I can't link to the video using my phone as I'm useless with it and I'm on my hols at the moment.
I picked up a complete centre console on ebay with all switches and gear selector when I saw it at a silly low price.i only wanted to fix the green led ring so I took a chance and luckily it was working on the new one.... However only lasted a few months so I won't bother trying to find another one. Stu

Hi Mike,
I recently posted a fix on the Australian Landrover Forum on how to correct this issue;
You can find it here https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-...ost2952874
