Top Tailgate Switch problem
Hi all,
Top switch stopped working - seems to click and power (11.6v) getting to it just not activating. After much checking it appeared to work after the Lower Tailgate switch was disconnected and reconnected.
Are they connected in some way?
I know the Lower will not work if the Top Latch is closed, but that is in the Lower tailgate anyway.

Have you had the button apart?

Not possible it is a sealed unit with only the 2 thin black wires coming out of the heat sealed switch. It is a new switch as I had problems a few weeks back.
I have also matched the key fob to release it if it happens again, as nearly impossible to open on your own without a long pole.
It started to work again after disconnecting the lower tailgate switch and reconnecting, so there must be some link.

It absolutely does come apart.
Takes a bit of looking, but you can open the whole assembly up to get to the micro switch, which may well be swimming in water!Richard

I had to disassemble mine in January, because the water had frozen solid, and I couldn't open the tailgate!Richard
