Arrest of Julian Assange. Not the botched version.
Quote:
"..The political and media class crafted a narrative of half-truths about the sex charges Assange was under investigation for in Sweden. They overlooked the fact that Assange had been allowed to leave Sweden by the original investigator, who dropped the inquiry, only for it to be revived by another investigator with a well-documented political agenda..."
If you are interested in the real story, not what the newspapers were told to make of it,
you can read this unbiased, un revised source. There are several articles, on all aspects of Wiki Leaks.

I inserted one line from the website to reset all the fake-news fed to the readers of everyday newspapers,
and I repeat it as you seem to miss the basic info:
"..allowed to leave Sweden by the original investigator, who dropped the inquiry,
only for it to be revived by another investigator with a well-documented political agenda.."
Breach of bail is a FINE, no more in the UK..
Forget everything you write as "facts" as they are fake news.
Read the articles and think again..

You probably need to provide links to such 'well documented political agenda' as despite their well-documented status they seem rather illusive.
On a final point of fact, when he fled British justice there was no secret or sealed request for extradition to the US. We can with all certainty state this, now that all such documentation has been unsealed. What we learned in recent weeks is that the first and only request from the USA was filled and sealed in 2017 - many years after his evasion of European justice.
Again, just the facts. No need for media bias.

Please do not make things up as it makes you look foolish - especially if you use terms like fake news against forum members.
Absconding whilst on bail in the UK is a criminal offence under the Bail Act 1976 and the Contempt of Court Act 1981 and as you would expect, carries a custodial sentence.

Just watch the interview before the smear actions started :
And the interview just after the meeting with the CPS..
Before the extradiction hearing it became clear Sweden wanted to sent him to the US..
From your own link Robbie :
Quote:
(7)A person who is convicted summarily of an offence under subsection (1) or (2) above and is not committed to the Crown Court for sentence shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or to a fine not exceeding [F2level 5 on the standard scale] or to both and a person who is so committed for sentence or is dealt with as for such a contempt shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to a fine or to both.

Well, you are now a fool Dan - trying to highlight in bold the financial penalty part whilst ignoring the imprisonment part included in the very same quote. As you can see from the other Act a breach from a higher court can carry a 2 year prison sentence.
See, we all have bold face privileges.
UK judges do not hold back when the court process is perturbed by an individual absconding or otherwise interfering in the legal process. Even UK jurors have served custodial sentences for researching a crime on the internet. Assange is in a different league when compared to the stupidity of the odd juror.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I am the fool ?
--> you write it it is JUST custodial . Not true : there is a FINE option.
So you present its ALWAYS custodial, and I highlight THERE IS A FINE OPTION !

BSnews 🤔 quite apt. Assange put a lot of people at risk for his own perverse gain, lock him up. Don’t forget Wikileaks was also a big factor in getting Trump elected.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

The data made public exposed crimes committed, so thats the job of the whistleblower.
Where is the 'gain' for Assange ? Does he get rich from illegal wars like the US weapon manufacturers ?

I am against, and always have been, against the illegal wars in Iran and Iraq.
The fact that the UK blindly follows the US, does not mean they "protect me" ..
There is a political "petrodollar" agenda for these wars. Nothing to do with 'protecting' civilians in W-Europe.
Quote:
United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan stated in September 2004 that: "I have indicated it was not in conformity with the UN charter. From our point of view and the UN Charter point of view, it [the war] was illegal", explicitly declaring that the US-led war on Iraq was illegal.
Ofcourse, if you are a professional UK/US military, its not nice to know you were fighting an illegal war,and you try to create a moral platform to stand on.
Like talking Assange into the dirt.

Thats what the smear campaign in the UK media planted in your mind the last 9 years.
This is what politicians in Australia say :
Quote:
The Greens leader, Richard Di Natale, told ABC TV’s Insiders program on Sunday: “Regardless of what you think of Julian Assange, the principle here is important. Julian Assange is responsible for uncovering what were war crimes in Iraq. This was important information in the public interest and an open and transparent democracy.
