Scotland is great if you get the weather, like anywhere, but your problem come if it rains and decides not to stop, then your stuffed for what to do and it’s hell, particularly if you’ve got kids.
I lived in the Outer Hebrides and one summer it was 5 weeks with heavy rain every day.
I now live in the mainland Highlands and it’s a glorious day, but that could change by the afternoon.
Plus peps doing the NC500 has increased exponentially. We normally get a lull this month, but bikers, camper van and sports cars have returned with a vengeance.

As you say Dundonian and you can blame the BBC and Countryfile for that, they did a report/special i think it was 3 years ago on the NC500 and it's been murder ever since.

Yep, SWMBO was offered a post just over a year ago, covering a certain area of the West Coast. She turned it down on the basis of the length of time it would take to travel.
A to B in the winter is 40 mins, in the summer it’s 2 hours. The position is still not filled and it’s an essential service, so in one way the NC500 is bringing an income to a few, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s loosing out big time.
People want to be doing a job, not on the road travelling!

just wait til the rain comes - after that spell of warm weather, the damp conditions will bring out -
Just got back from 10 days touring the highlands and couldn't have asked for better weather (or scenery). Hit 25 degrees past Ben Hope.
Only downside was getting caught up with the wildfires at Melvich on Wednesday.Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Well thanks a bunch LfW, now we'll have the whole world and their dog wanting to come here.
Seriously though, some nice pics there.
(& thankfully, none down my way. )...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
