LRE Skipton

Hi,

In almost 20 years of LR ownership I've never done a LRE (only ever bought used). Did it today in a D5 and had the best time - loved it. Done a lot of off roading, but never really pushed it as much to the limits.

Interestingly the D5 totally grew on me during the day. Have had loaners in the past and whilst I have never really been that anti it, it's never really grabbed me. I did really really enjoy the day in it though. Interesting that when I got into my 250K old bus at the end of the day, it still felt smooth and quiet and comfy. Certainly not £60K difference!

Almost certainly going for the Defender, but the D5 really won me over from my previous ambivalence.

The surround cameras were superb (if you off road!)

If you've never done the LRE - do it - such fun!

Heading to Skipton area with SWMBO for an early Silver Wedding long weekend. I wonder if I could persuade her that this would be a good day out.....

Treat her to a spa day and yourself to a LRE day, job done.

Did the course there a while ago in a D4, was a fun day although quite tame (apart from the rocks at the end!!)

Stunning place, the building they refurbished is beautiful

Remember being 'spotted' by CFB there when I did my first day with them. Wink

Ha yes, remember spotting you Ron Thumbs Up

I had just been for a job interview for an instructor there, dream job really, playing in Land Rover;s all day. I got offered it but had to turn it down (as I think they paid about £4.50 an hour Sad )

They moved from there up to Broughton Hall estate a few years ago, much bigger site but mainly artificially created obstacles

I agree with you JohnC Thumbs Up I've just done a full day in a new Discovery! We did the whole course, had lunch at the Bull at Broughton the otherside of the estate. The new Disco did a fantastic job including a couple of 38 degree drops it took in its stride. We did do an hour experience that my daughter got for me a while ago before the renovation work, but now it's just got better. Very Happy Thumbs Up
