Wonder if abit of silicone to hold the caps on will help, so making it even more difficult
Or maybe a short plate going across with the screw going through the middle of the plate , if tha

Just a thought but wouldn’t making the lights more secure just result in more damage to the car? OK, cutting the cables is a b r but the lights are cheap as chips, fixing bodywork isn’t. ISTR I done the two pairs I had for either £10 or £20 a set as there was naff all interest.
Just sayin.

Dont panic Mr Mainwaring
I took a look at my lights and with the tailgate shut you cannot see any bolts at all. So I can only assume that you have some very large panel gaps on your car. 🤪Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

Right hand rear light cluster stolen from my (locked) car in my drive last night. I can see they tried the top screw on the left hand side (shiny, burred) but that was obviously harder so they left it. Paint damage to side of tailgate where they have inserted screwdriver.
Taking precautionary action now and onpassing evidence to police.
CheersGary

Cross traffic detectors are in the bumper section ...no interference with the lights.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks for confirmation.
Much appreciatedGary

your posts should, to my thinking, indicate they are not being stolen to order otherwise they would be looking to get them in pairs
edit: ... but with info from DG maybe not.

As I mentioned they tried to get the left hand side out (the screw is burred) . The bottom tailgate shape hampers a bit that side.
Anyone know if this part number will replace?

Yeh, it’s a a complete pain and obviously word is spreading about how to do it. Sorry to hear you’ve had this issue too. My car was parked in the street in London all weekend just before it happened. Drove home , then it got taken out when in my drive overnight in Kent! For the 5 minutes it takes I would recommend everyone taking action to stop it happening to them. The inconvenience of not being able to drive the car is bad enough, let alone the cost and work involved in getting a replacement.
I’ve made sure this can’t happen again. I’ll PM you the details. Good luck with the repair.
CheersGary

We had this back on the Td5s years ago when a growing group of with a crappy old Tdi wanted the later headlights to try and make their old banger look more up to date. They used to rip them off the front. Have we hit that point now with really cheap D3s trying to look like D4s?D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Do you mind sending me that PM too? I feel it’s only a matter of time before this happens to me.
