Not at all James W.
It was an attempt at humour regarding earlier comments about potential expectations.
I’d also like to get some firm solutions for the front lights and grill but can’t seem to find anything. PMd MSE but nothing so far. Will keep searching.Gary

Have responded to requests.

Back in the late 80’s I knew someone who had a business engraving the registration number of the vehicle onto the windows and lights. It was popular for a few years, perhaps it should make a come back.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

You're then asking me to determine who's allowed in (based on what criteria - a post count?), and if there's a single slip then the whole thing is compromised.
Nice idea but unworkable as things stand 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Putting registration number on the lights is a good idea I think, but will likely not be noticed until after they have been removed. You would hope it would interfere with the selling and buying process and raise a few questions from the buyer/potential buyer especially if it was someone on here.
Wasn’t expecting such a demand. Shows how much concern is out there.
Requests for info responded to including apologies for missing Hairy47s request.Gary

I have engraved my front headlamps with my reg number, which as said above cannot be seen until the bonnet is raised, but if it makes them a sod to sell on then it was worth the effort.
Being a D3 no one wants the rear lights, so I am safe there.

Following on from the etching/ marking discussion I had a further thought regarding a deterrent. If we created a sticker for the the rear screen (about the size of the Forum sticker) saying “ Lights are security marked’” or something similar, it may help to put people off removing them.
I think it’s quite likely someone going behind the car to remove the lights would spot it and think twice. After all, it shows them you know they might be coming and thought about it.
Just got to work out how to get one done in something that will last. Any ideas?
What do people think?
CheersGary

I’d have thought they would nick them anyway. They’d get a lower price if they are marked and do your car a bit more damage as recompense for said drop in value.
Just sayin.

I can't see etching number plates on them putting these w*nk**rs off, either they would just say the car has been broken, or just grind the etching out, much better to try and stop them being nicked in the first place, I just put some high quality silicon into the screw threads, difficult to get out for the scrotes, but easy for me with the boot open.David
