Like I said, I'm trying a few things out, I will take the feedback on board
looks a lot neater with adblock re-enabled.

Absolutely detest adverts popping up on web pages I visit (particularly sad to now see them now here).
What's the best "ad blocker" to get?...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Yeah, adverts are annoying and I usually run a blocker (and/or use the option built in to many browsers these days), on a site we all use quite a lot and that is otherwise free to use, I can live with them. Top and tail of a page is fine, too many on a page is likely to drive folk away totally or in to the blocker group.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

iOS: 1AdBlocker X (one-time paid, there is a free offering too)
Desktop browsers: AdBlock Plus (ABP)
I, too, would rather pay than see silly ads on forums. Content-wise ads tend to be pretty scummy outside the google/Facebook ad networks. I would also assume most people run blockers or are capable of figuring out how to get and install one given enough incentive.

All above feedback taken on board.
I don't want to paste ads all over the site either, many other forums are unusable now due to them and I'm not wanting to go down that route.
It's about finding a balance. Give me a day or two to try this out.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Totally understand you need funding and if this is the way then so be it. This is a great site and I for one wouldn't bat an eyelid at paying an annual subscription to become a "premium" member and not get the adds.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

The problem there is that using adblock and other tools, I can just turn off the ads … so where is the incentive to pay for "premium" level membership ?
Question for Martin :
if you sell more advertising space AND people use ad block etc., does that get you less revenue than you'd get otherwise OR do advertisers look at how many members you have and assume a percentage of them are blocking the ads ?

A lot of sites now won't let you in if you run an adblocker. Don't know how it works, but it does. Try www.autocar.co.uk for example with your adblocker running and see the result.
I do run an adblocker most of the time but for some sites I disable it. For many sites that I might just stumble on whilst having a bimble around the place, I just close the page and bimble on.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I would be happy to donate a few quid every year to the site as find it invaluable keeping my motor on the road.
Realise there is a donate button but its not a rolling over thing.
Is there any way that a donate type of thing could be done on a yearly basis and the adverts removed?
