Traffis Announcements (TA) oddity |
|
My car (Disco 4 HSE, October 2014, 2015 model) was recently driven by someone else who appears to have changed the operation of the Traffic Announcements. Previously the TA system turned on the audio (or temporarily overrode the navigation announcements if navigation was active) only for the Traffic Announcement itself and for a few seconds afterwards, then silence. Now the audio stays on, on whatever station the TA happened to be) after the TA has finished and the only way to silence it is to press the main audio on/off button. Until the next TA, when the whole thing repeats.
Does anyone know how I can get back to the previous state, with the audio turning itself off at the end of each TA?
Many thanks. Land Rover 80" station wagon (1949)

Bump! Anyone? Surely someone in our full-of-expertise forum has had this problem and solved it?

Ask the borrower what they did!
I can only recommend that you go into the radio menu and select which bits you prefer. From what I recall TA comes on as a broadcast signal from whichever local station is reporting and sometimes they leave that signal on to tempt you to their station. Has the priority of stations been changed 'ie the selection of types of station' Rock/Pop/Smooth/News? Dave

Many thanks to Skynet and Galway Green for their comments. I can find nothing in the manual and various combinations of radio options have not so far solved the problem. I shall persevere.

Look under the Settings button on the radio screen (top right).
It will give you the option of turning TA on FM on/off which might be the cause of the problem.
TMC announcements are broadcast on the back of Classic FM. TA is picked up by whichever local station happens to be broadcasting traffic news at the time.
Not sure that will resolve your problem but you never know.

For some reason the TA has spontaneously begun to work properly again. I have no idea why. Land Rover 80" station wagon (1949)
