Hi
Have u got ur V8 on LPG please
Am so tempted to have a V8 next time , a D3 that is
Looked into it - both a LPG or complete Ethanol kit (anything from regular petrol fuel to 100% ethanol) but in the end I didn’t bother with either. I fill up with 95E10. It’s a 14 (soon 15) year old car and while it makes me really happy I honestly didn’t feel like investing in a LPG system.

The first one suffers from someone having installed the LPG tank in the trunk. It should have been installed underneath the vehicle as (I think) has been done with the second one. It won’t fit there if you’ve got a spare tire so you end up needing a spare wheel carrier. Now if you take a look at the cost of the LPG installed + a Nakatanenga spare wheel carrier (+ install unless you’re very DIY) it is starting to be real money.

Many thks and great getting the info first hand
That’s indeed what I would have to look into to ensure 100% it been installed correctly or with the age of the motors is it far better not to bother
As of course would be a pointless exercise if trying to save money in one hand with LPG but then if it causes damage, extra expense , where in the other hand one without not having the extra complication of LPG
Have heard of these oilers for the valves , apologises forgot the name
If I got around 12 -14 mpg around town and maybe 20mpg on a run I would be ok with that
Daft question are they ok with only doing low mileage please , or maybe not being used for up to a month at a time
Would know what to look for next time apart from the engine
Apologises all the questions and thank u so much , most appreciated ,

I think it is unclear what causes VSR. Yes, it seems to happen but there are too few vehicles (maybe?) for any realistic scientific test or results.
There was a thread here - or another U.K.-ish forum (I think Mogwyth participated) - where there seemed to be more people reporting issues that had a valve lubing system (like flashlube) than those who didn’t. Some people simply didn’t have any issues at all, ever. Etc.
I’m averaging 13-14 l/100 km driving both highways at constant speed as well as driving in the city. If I did the conversion right thats roughly equivalent to 18 mpg assuming US gallons. I’m ok with that.

My secret, heinous plan is to have the D3 V8 until at least 2023-ish, then procure a nice used D4 V8 or SCV6 and run with it for the next 10 years. Maybe, by then, I’m either in a country that doesn’t have a car import tax or they’ve abolished here.
(Oops - the secret is out now)
