Dashcam hardwire power.

One of the things I still need to do to my new to me D4 is fit the Blackvue DR590W front and rear camera I purchased.
That is after I’ve found some time to sort re-registering the GAP IID and Altox FBH controllers I also have to fit.

With the Blackvue I also purchased a Power Magic Pro hardwire module to keep it on for a short while after leaving the car.

The module needs a Permanent live and a switched live from the fusebox, I believe the accepted way to do this is to use piggyback type fuses.

Can anyone suggest from experience which fuses I can use please, obviously ones where the circuit is able to cope with the small additional load.

Thanks

Nasher.

I used a piggyback fuse off the interior lights fuse. That’s live all the time as I recal and there is a earth point near the fuse box behind the glove box on the d3 Smile

I have another piggyback fuse under the bonnet for an additional usb feed and the knight rider lights!

In the d3 I’d use the cig lighter fuse. As it’s is switch and only an accessory

There are several permanent live unused fuses in the internal fusebox under behind the glovebox. Fuses 18, 28, 29 and 33.

I used fuse 29 for the permanent live and fuse 54 for the ignition live when wiring in my dashcam.
