suspension not leaky when disabled but leaks when engaged |
|
Hello, I'm in the middle of investigating this curious problem. I've notice my suspension settles, sometimes up front, sometimes all 4 corners. When I pull the fuses #26 and #3, and leave overnight, it does not settle. This points to a problem with the self leveling feature but is a bit confusing.
2006 LR3 HSE US LHD, 170k+ miles.
The compressor was recently replaced. Did soapy water test around the compressor and air springs and front valve block and reservoir valve block No leaks. Didn't get to the rear VB.
Suspect the problem might be with the reservoir valve block.
Ive got the O ring kit to rebuild all 3 but don't want to risk mucking them up if unnecessary which I have a propensity to do.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Ravi

Well.......seems the truck grows overnight with the self leveling disabled. It’s was taller this morning. 😳

Its the mushroom compost under the wheel arches. So what is the problem you are chasing??

You had mushrooms too.....sweet!!!
The suspension sags overnight but doesn’t do so when I pull the fuse to disable self leveling. I’m chasing why the suspension droops.

generally, the suspension will try and self level (if the ground has any slope on it). Pulling the fuses stops self levelling. So if that's okay then the chances are you are chasing something that is not there. The truck is doing what it is designed to do. I leave mine at access height when parked.
If you think it is only going down in one corner then maybe the height sensor needs looking at as well as adjusting the system heights (tool needed for that)

Very good. Thanks.
I was beginning to think that it may need to be recalibrated after my last 2 off roading expeditions.
This afternoon, I found the left front ride height sensor wiring severed from the sensor close to the connector. I’m waiting for a new connector.

as far as leak testing you should only need to consider:
struts
front valve block
rear valve block

Thx for input. Will replace connector, then do a recal. If symptoms persist, will chase leaks.
Is home recal possible?

Thanks.
I may try the iLand product that Atlantic British offers on this side of the pond for NA vehicles. Its less expensive and seem to be compatible in its capabilities.

Update - ride height sensor connector arrived today and installed. No more dropped and flashing red light on the 4x4 screen. Truck rides smoother also. Will see if it drops overnight.
Getting vehicle raising slowly warning but rear raises normally and front slowly so suspect front valve block problem. Will remove, clean and replace O rings.
Still need to acquire Gap tool to do suspension recalibration.

is raises the rear first and then the front. so not front valve block problem.
"vehicle raising slowly " usually means the compressor requires a service
