If the van isn't damaged can you not just fit the missing section and but up to the existing rail rather than disturb the remaining rail?

I have done one many years ago on a (leaky) Lunar. In that case it was a matter of removing a load of small screws that attached the awning channel to the 'van, and slowly prising it away from the mastic. The new one was from Lunar so came pre bent for the 'van. If you do do it yourslef get the right flexible sealant (Silkaflex I think) otherwise it wont flex with the van and you'll have leaks

While we're talking about awning rails,
Do these awning rail strips that you fit during storage and travel really stop the black streaks?
We've just purchased our first brand new van - an 8ft Swift dealer special, and I'm gonna do everything I can to stop it looking a mess!!2014 D4 XS

They do not stop the black streaks but they do significantley reduce them, you tend to get very little in the way of steaks down the side but you still get them at back and front. They are worth the money

The awning channel strip is a great way to quickly attach a string of fairy lights. Great for -off old fogeys on the adjacent pitch.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Just going to pick it up. Swift Charisma 555. Quite old at 2008, but newer than the 2000 Elddis we just finished with. We picked this for the fixed bed layout.Richard

Thanks Russell
We've bought the Super DB "Sienna" 6 berth, which is our local dealers sprite upgrade with a few tasty extras. Got a great deal on a factory stored 2019 van to collect in March. I fell in love with the Lunar Quaser 696 but there was no warranty and the build quality was terrible! Great layout though. But for 2 young daughters (2 and 6) the super DB is a fantastic family van!2014 D4 XS
