ID required for council tips

Well, good old West Sussex County Council has decided that, from 1st December, anyone using their 'household waste recycling centres' has to provide ID (driving-license, utility bill, etc.) to prove they are a resident of the county.

I am now selling copies of my utility bills for £5 each or three for £10...

Salford apply this too ... but only at the "commercial waste" places. Since they raised the barrier height at the normal tips recycling centres, I don't have to use the commercial one.

Sandwell have been doing it for ages (not everytime but randomly), as the tip is close to the boundry with Dudley, so it would appear that those scallies from across the border have been trying to fill up our tip!!

When my local council started doing that it just meant more stuff ending up being fly tipped in a lay-by or down country lanes.

White van men charging £20 for house clearances don't care, they just chuck it out in the middle of the night somewhere quiet without CCTV, leaving the council or landowner the cleanup cost.

Medway council started that a couple of months ago after Kent County Council decided to start charging for certain waste at their tips. Medway were then concerned of Kent residents using theirs.

Am with sevenoaks council so expect it won’t take long for them to follow suit

Always annoys me When ever I visit my local dump because they have steps leading up to the large bins and I struggle , is just general rubbish where I’ve been having a clear out

Every time I’ve asked one of the guys there to help me they’ve demanded between £10-20 to help me , but some kind person will always come to help me which restores faith in humanity

Complained to the council of why they won’t do anything without asking for money , not interested

Plus convinced they’ve lowered the height restriction post , no issue when I select access height, Whistle

That's outrageous. The policy round here is that they will get the push if they accept any tip gratuity whatsoever.

Many thks , Know things in life arnt free so to speak but because of my back I try and do the best I can

But kills me trying to get bags of rubbish up the metal stairs and into the large bins , but every time they sit there and would watch me struggle big time , refuse to help without me paying which I never have

If I’m honest is Very soul destroying and Ive always helped anyone where I able to

Still it is what it is and always believed in karma , what goes around comes around

Stuart,
Next time yo7 go to the dump take somebody with you and film the whole experience on their phone. Especially when you fall down the stairs after struggling to get up them with bags whilst some fat lumps sit and demand money. They will soon help you.

Hiya

The stairs are metal and around 15 x of them, indeed if I fell it would put me in a wheelchair because of all the metal work I already have , makes me go cold just the thought

However , you do have a very good point , , must get round to fitting my dashcam, I’ll face the disco towards the bins next time I go , at least then if I leave it running and I’ll make sure I turn the audio on whilst driving Into the dump and then asking the guys for help , then send that to the council for a response

Good idea , plus apologises side tracking the thread

Our local recycling centre has been charging everyone for the past year, not cheap either.

We still get everything free for domestic waste. No ID required, just a self declaration form if you have a van or a trailer.

I know what you mean about the metal stair cases and it seems to be on the skips that hold garden waste, hard core and the like. Maybe that’s their way of dissuading use.

It came up on my News Feed in a Chi-based newspaper. Now I look, it may just be Horsham and Crawley. Embarassed

Cheers, just found it, so they save £250k stopping those naughty East Sussex and Surrey residents dumping their waste in our tips but end up paying £4m clearing up fly tipping Rolling Eyes Maybe an independence referendum should be held. WeSexIt.
