Activate signature side lights

Hi guys please can some one help ?
i've recently bought a 2011 Discovery 4 and have added the later face lift rear lights and also added the face lift headlights but would like to activate the signature running lights
I see on the powerfuluk.com them showing you how to upgrade your disco 4 to facelift it shows you them using a IID tool to activate them but i don't have one
I've looked at them on ebay but to be honest I really don't want to pay 400+ just to turn them on
SO if any one in the Essex area can help please please shut out
Yours Eddie

If you are planning to keep the Disco, you're going to need that IID sooner or later! Buy it now, and you'll forget the expense every time it saves you from a garage bill Thumbs Up

Edd to get what you need you will have to pay someone 60 quid so your vin will work on their iid tool, or 2k for the pro version!

Worth bearing in mind the iid loses very little value when/if you come to sell it, so whilst it may seem dear initially it will pay for itself easily/

You didn't buy them from a chap in the pub by any chance? Confused

Seems quite prevalent down your way, so you might want to secure them.

Thumbs Up

These cars are expensive to run. If it stops working, and you can't scan it to find out what's wrong, £400 will be a drop in the ocean of garage bills.

Bought my tool 18 months ago, yes it’s expensive but as said, it will hold its value better than your Disco and you will find you use it all the time. You can turn on and off simple features such as the beep when you lock the car. Sounds pretty pants but I like that reassuring beep, the number of times I’ve walked away and wondered if the car actually locked. I’ve used it to activate RSE, Surround Cameras, TPMS and many other bits. I’ve also cleared hard DTCs that require clearing once a system is repaired. The £400 cost (less if you buy 2nd hand) will soon pay for itself when you don’t need to pay for the codes to be read, tight tolerance mode set for alignment and so on. I couldn’t live without mine and I have the dealer SDD which I wouldn’t rate any where near as good as the IID.

Hi Guys
I fully understand that it's worth the money and it won't decline in value much but all i really wanted to do was turn on the DRL
Just a very kind hearted person to plug one in and turn them on for some pennies in there pocket or pounds lol
I get the point that you can save money with this IID tool but never having used on how differcult are they to use load ect ect

Edd I think what the lads are trying to tell you is that if you intend to run a D3/4 you are going to need this tool regardless!

The issue you are looking to resolve now is minor for sure, but how long do you think it will be before something bigger crops up and you're in the middle of nowhere with a complex vehicle that can't be driven? A worst case scenario which perhaps might never happen, but you WILL need it sooner than later unless you are going to pay lots of money to your local indy.
Trust me you will need this if only to allow you to do the diagnostics, calibrations etc yourself. Its pretty intuitive and easy to use with very strong customer support as well as lots of help on here.

If you are doing an extended journey it is no small comfort to know its in your pocket, just in case!!

Its no more challenging than using a smart phone. There is a manual which you can downloaded from GAP. Once you have the tool you only need to activate it on your smart phone/tablet and all details of "how to" are sent to you.
After that you're good to go Thumbs Up

If you get stuck or have a question you'll get a fast response on here, or from Pat at GAP.

Just my two penneth...

My IID has paid for itself probably 10 times over and also helped out others who needed faults clearing or fault reports etc.

However when I come to sell it it will still be worth a good amount of money - Ive seen them selling for over 3/4 of what mine cost, so actually it will have cost me under £100 in real terms when I sell it.

Its worth the investment! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
 Must stop buying shiny toys....

Remember as said above, a normal IID from a forum member won’t allow you to edit the CCF unless you pay £60 to add your car to their IID.

You would need someone with the Pro version, and these are usually the guys who operate commercially and offer a service.

So with the above in mind, you probably won’t be able to get them turned on for a few pounds.
