Hi all,
Was under the car doing an oil change and noticed the belt tensioner case had opened slightly and could see the spring inside (although thought the bolt would stop it opening if done up correctly)
It was still working fine but had moved the pulley over slightly and the belt was not fully aligned with it.
As it looked like the case had just opened rather than breaking can it be pushed back together or is it best to replace ?
I see I can get one for about £40 and will need a fan wrench and new belt and maybe the other pulley if that’s also shot 2005 D3 SE Auto, zermatt silver

Change it, along with the belt. You can do it without removing the fan. Just use a long bar
