Went to go out in the D4 the other day and couldn't find my usual bunch of keys. Gave up looking for them after a few minutes and used the spare ... only to find the missing ones in the drivers door "bottle holder" area. Car was locked, so I must have used the spares to lock it the night before.
I thought the car wouldn't lock with keys inside ? I tested locking them in the car - in the door space again - and it locked. Tested locking with key in the boot ... and it wouldn't lock. I'd assumed this was the behaviour of the whole car.
Is this how it should be ? or has something broken ? .

I've seen it happen when keys and mobile phone are placed in the boot and doors closed at the exact moment the phone is transmitting. Apparently the phone can block the key fob signal which tricks the car into thinking there are no keys present allowing it to lock.
