Political Correctness - No more "Ladies and Gentlemen" !
Last week Equity, the trade union, released its new guidelines - venues are now being encouraged to adopt “gender neutral terminology for collective calls, both front of house and backstage”.
For decades, “Ladies and gentlemen, please make your way to your seats” has been the way theatregoers have been gently coaxed back from the bar for the second half.
The PC numbskulls wish to see an end to the use of the expression "Ladies & Gentlemen" in an attempt to go "gender neutral".
I don't believe they have offered an alternative, clearly "Mates" would be unacceptable, as would "Comrades", "Citizens" & "People".
I believe we must fight back & will use the term "Ladies and gentlemen" as frequently as possible - I hope you too may do the same.

I'm a regular theatre goer and the announcement in Bath, for as long as I can remember, has been a ringing bell followed by 'would everyone please return to their seats for the next instalment of tonights performance' . LT - you are correct Transport for London ("TfL") announced this policy in July 2017.
The Telegraph had a poll annexed to its report; here are the results:-
TfL's policy was supported by only 20% of the respondents & opposed by 73% Am I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.
