Camper van wanted up to £6k budget.
My son is planning a road trip around Europe this summer and wants to buy a camper van. He’s got a 6k budget.
We are going to see a Riemo VW tomorrow that looks well looked after, but does have a lot of miles on it.
Can anyone give me any advise on what to look at, what’s good, what’s bad, and what to avoid completely! I know my way around a car, but never bought a camper van. There does seem to be a lot of rubbish for sale at the lower end of the price spectrum, but £6k is top budget.
If anyone does have something for sale, let me know 👍

You have probably worked this out by now, but £6k will not get you a lot with respect to coach-built vans. Mostly the late 90's Fiat and similar based offerings which tend to be slow and uneconomical and probably leaky. That said there are still some very well looked after ones out there.
He may well be better looking at a newer panel van conversion. For European use I would be thinking Sprinter or possibly Vito as posted earlier as Mercs tend to be reliable and can be fixed anywhere.
Watch out for the new restrictive changes that the DVLA/Vosa seem to be bringing in re van conversions though. Not such a Disco Newbie now!

Stew that’s pretty much exactly what he’s looking for! Could you get me some details emailed if it’s for sale?

Take a good damp meter with you Gareth for any viewing.
Even brand new ones can have water ingress issues.
