Recharging a non-Tesla vehicle in the UK
I didn't realise that this could be such a problem in this busy corridor .
I like Harry's reviews : he's solid .

Great real world review. I’ve commented in the past, my friend across the road has got his IPace recently, and it’s been great for local use. He’s done one long journey to Cardiff and had a nightmare getting home because his overnight stop had no charger, and struggled to get a charge to get home. Not good
Whenever I book a table at a restaurant, or rooms in a hotel I always enquire about EV charging.
The answer is almost always "Sorry no", I always reply along the lines of OK we will come in an ICE vehicle this time, but that option won't exist for ever & you will loose my custom in due course unless you offer decent charging facilities. I take the same line with professionals such as accountants, financial advisors & solicitors.
I'm just booking 36 room nights for my shoot for the coming season, and one of the hotels have admitted that they are being asked this quite often, and that they will have a couple of charging points within the next 12 months.

What an excellent review!
I was considering an ipace as a replacement for my work car.....not any longer!
There is no way I could live like that constantly chasing power leads...I think they would be fine for local runarounds but I frequently have to travel the country and sitting waiting at motorway service stations is not my idea of fun!

Harry is a great presenter. If you haven’t explored his you tube channel, it’s very good, for a mix of reviews. Some of his road trips are great as well. The Testarossa across the desert was a great one!
His other channel, Harry’s Farm is also very good if you’re interested in agriculture and food production

Tesla Model 3 Performance would be a strong contender for me ...cheaper, faster, great range and good charging support.
I'm somewhat concerned by build quality, but really I can't find a viable alternative.
My problem is that I can't see how to transport a decent sized dog in any of the Teslas currently available, or for that matter drive to France & Spain.
Realistically I may have to keep the D4 and sell my MGB GT V8 and/or my MGA to fund the purchase of a Tesla Model 3 or possibly a Tesla Model Y, but even the Model Y won't solve the problem of canine transport etc..
I'm inclined to try to rent a Model 3 for 3 days to see how I manage, but I don't have a charging facilty at home (yet).

Which for me sums up the insanity that is electric cars. OK for the school/office/park/Tesco run but anything that is any distance or not do-able in a small car then we need a standby sitting at home.

No one takes anything non-Tesla on the Teslarati site seriously. It is a fanboy/shill site.
Currently charging mid journey is easier with a Tesla, but that advantage is diminishing as the competition matures. The styling of Tesla’s is marmite, I think they have bland cheap interiors and jelly mould exterior styling, whereas others like this (presumably the same sort of people that like the styling of the D5 ).
For all the positives offered by Tesla’s, and there are a few, I will never buy one because it would mean putting money in the pocket of that odious idiot Musk.An ex-Disco3 / FFRR owner ......
