TDV6 Jaguar ---> Land Rover |

As mentioned in another topic, has my MY2006 (on a 05 plate) debris with soft metal in its oil filter and a knock inside...
i can buy a Jag engine from '08 for a reasonable price with low milage..
i know what to do with the fuel system since it is a Euro4 jag engine vs a Euro3 engine in my disco.. also the turbo's from the jag have to move /exhanged for the single D3 one..
new belts, etc. etc..
my question for now is... is the sump different? i thought i did read that somewere, but can not find it now...
and who does sell big-end shells with locking tab (thnx for the translation help lynalldiscovery )
i can only find the "standard" mounting shells
anyone who knows? Best regards
Harold

Tab is the word.
I have no idea who sells them, but you would need the block modified to fit them, bascially a notch to make room for the tab.

I read today that the LR has an enlarged sump to cope with the angles 4x4s can reach

I'm sure you have to change the sump and ladder frame above the sump too. Stu

yes the sump is different
and the ancillaries.
basically you have to strip everything off the engine block of the jag, and fit LR stuff!
a 2008 may need a new oil pump

Isn’t one of Salvage Rebuilds videos all about swapping the stuff over and the differences between the two engines.

I linked that to one of the other op posts.
They kind of glossed over the interesting bits.

Thanks Pete!
Hmmm going to reconsider the jag engine choice... maybe a LR euro 3 engine saves me a day in time/money.
On the other hand... jag engine with low mileage are cheaper then low mileage LR engines, as what I see over here in Nl... the difference is about €1500 or more..
Does anyone know, if the biggest difference is mainly Euro3 vs Euro4 parts, like egr, injectors, hp fuelpump, etc? If so, maybe a euro3 engine is less work
Sump is no issue regarding work/time as I like to take that off and clean it anyway
And the turbo is not the biggest job and maybe better to put on a new one or refurbish it anyway Best regards

My indie says it can be done and it sounds logical but costs might be heavy. His advice was find a write off! D3 2.7 Zermatt silver (not another one)
D3 4.4 V8 Zambezi silver
D3 4.4 V8 Adriatic Blue
D3 2.7 (gone) Tonga Green
D3 4.4 V8 LHD Tonga Green

@admirable
Please read my topic... I am talking about a ‘08 jag engine, that IS the same as XF..
You can use that with a a lot of work, but my question about that jag engine Now is;
“Does anyone know, if the biggest difference is mainly Euro3 vs Euro4 parts, like egr, injectors, hp fuelpump, etc? If so, maybe a euro3 jag engine is less work

I'd be interested to know what differences there are on the D5 engines also, as these are appearing for sale obviously with lower miles....
