galwaygreen I have spoken to a few people now who have confirmed this from bitter experience and all have not had to pay out, LR/Warranty have covered it all. My dealer has also confirmed this and will stand by it  and I trust them as they have replaced and engine in my original D4 MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

When I had a warranty on the first D4, I queried that requirement and was told they couldn't actually enforce that but that it was simply their way of ensuring "a proper garage" did the work. I provided info about the indy I used and they were happy. It was only verbally, granted, but I had date/time/name for the conversation.
Sadly, the car got stolen  before I got to make any claims, so can't say categorically they wouldn't have tried to use it as a way of not paying for anything. .

Still mulling this over. Looking at Warranty Direct they mention modifications. Are the performance enhancing ones or will they also include the likes of roof racks, side steps, rear ladders etc so would not cover you.
