Do you still have the LR roof rails or did you fit the FR ones. I agree with Baben - there shouldn't be any vibration

Frontrunner rails. Baben & Heine, does your RR tilt slightly up at the front? I'm talking 5mm type of thing.

Checked the rails and bolts etc to find that the bolts on the wind deflector were not tight. Will let you know if the problem's sorted, tomorrow.
Baben, you only get one of these tomorrow if it is.

Don't have the RR on at the moment , but I don't recall anything like that . Maybe it's an aerodynamic feature

No way does mine tilt (thats if we are discussing the roofrack )
It should be 100% straight
You need to follow a certain procedure when installing the rack - the roof of the D3 is curved, and the rack is dead straight, hence each bracket along the length of the roof rails will have a different height from the roof to the rack. I think the second from the rear will be the lowest, speaking from memory. If you bolted one end tight then installed the rest, it may well curve a bit.
You need to loosen the bolts that sit horizontally, and allow the rack to settle till it is perfectly horizontal (hit it with a mallet if necessary).
If it doesn't move, then loosen all the bolts slightly, and allow the rack to settle properly. Make sure its flat, otherwise its gonna act ike a harp when you drive.
Hope this helps
BTW, what were you doing at 150 anyway

Rob, Baben,
My FR rack does slightly tilt up at the front as well.
I thought it was remodelled under a boabab, so I will check it out, Baben.
I will be happy if I get it straight..
Also, I have a single plate at front, 4x bolted and riveted on at the front.
I am taking it off tonight ...
No more harping

I had my wife take a look at the RR last night, and the tilt upward is more of a bow in the whole rack. So I will adjust the two middle strut heights to get it dead level.
Baben, hit 170 this morning without major vibration, so here's to you.
Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi Rob
Osu to you too!
Please have a look if the 2nd bracket from the rear is as low as it can go, then adjust the rest of the brackets from there. Not sure if just increasing the height in the middle is the way to go, as you want the rack as low as possible over the roof.
The front brackets should also be as low as they can go, ie. the upright bracket (thick 90degree bent bracket) should be resting on the bolt that goes into the roof. I have some pics in my gallery but they don't really show the detail of the relative heights of the rack feet very well.
Good luck. At least the vibe is gone

For comparison sake I'll give my measurement as well. MY06 TDV6 S 1.915 top of rack rail to bottom of rear rim.
Interested in the wind noise as my rack came with one deflector plate orignally and had shocking noise and vibration from 80-95km/hr. Complained and a second deflector was supplied that made the rack quiet, just some buffeting noise on occasions.
Later I fitted a FR Jerry can holder set and found that using one deflector and leaving the can holder base bolted on top of the rack over the 4th cross rail in particular was even quieter. I had isolated that rail as the vibrating cross rail by reaching out the window and feeling the rails that I could reach to see which was vibrating.
Hope yours goes well and I will be checking the levels on mine.
