[For Sale] 2006 Disco tdv6 Metropolis
I have a 2006 Disco tdv6 Metropolis automatic with 92000 miles. It’s had on ongoing problem with a strange whining noise for the past 6 months. Here is a list of everything I’ve changed :
Brand new turbo
Upgraded torque converter ( Bristol transmission )
Intercooler
Silicon turbo hoses
Cooling fan
Calipers
Propshaft
Wheel bearings
2 x gearbox flushes
3 x diff flushes
Even bought 4 x wheels and tyres off a forum member ( nice gunmetal colour with continental tyres )
It’s also been remapped by Geoff ( forum member )
AND STILL I HAVE THE WHINE
I think if someone offers me £1000 for it they can take it.D3 Metropolis Bonatti Grey-Alpaca Leather-adaptive headlights-fridge-EGR blanking kit-Harmen Karden-Cruise-4x4 info enabled-Tinted Windows-Heated F&R Seats-Rosen rear Entertainment-LED'S everywhere -Smoked Side Repeaters-Rear Aircon-Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme-Puddle and Footwell Lamps-Stainless Steel Side Protection Tubes- NEW ASHTRAY ( thanks to dsd1036 )

Forgot to mention I took it to the automatic gearbox centre in Hove, they had it for 2 hours and said the gearbox was not the problem either and assured me it was doing everything it should.D3 Metropolis Bonatti Grey-Alpaca Leather-adaptive headlights-fridge-EGR blanking kit-Harmen Karden-Cruise-4x4 info enabled-Tinted Windows-Heated F&R Seats-Rosen rear Entertainment-LED'S everywhere -Smoked Side Repeaters-Rear Aircon-Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme-Puddle and Footwell Lamps-Stainless Steel Side Protection Tubes- NEW ASHTRAY ( thanks to dsd1036 )

Over the last couple of years I have added genuine Land Rover roof bars, led rear lights, fuel burner remote, had the handbrake overhauled, had a fixed towbar fitted by Land Rover, new suspension compressor.
I’m sure there are many more things I’ve forgotten !!!
Now you know why I’ve just had enough

Does it still make the noise with the Aux belt off?
I’m sure that one of the mechanics I’ve had looking at it has tried that, which reminds me it’s also had a new tensioner and alternator.
Everything I’ve replaced on it has been brand new and either genuine or top brandD3 Metropolis Bonatti Grey-Alpaca Leather-adaptive headlights-fridge-EGR blanking kit-Harmen Karden-Cruise-4x4 info enabled-Tinted Windows-Heated F&R Seats-Rosen rear Entertainment-LED'S everywhere -Smoked Side Repeaters-Rear Aircon-Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme-Puddle and Footwell Lamps-Stainless Steel Side Protection Tubes- NEW ASHTRAY ( thanks to dsd1036 )

SORN it, buy a cheap runabout, try living without it for a while. I'll give you 2 months tops before you go back to it..

I’ve already SORN it
I paid £23,000 for it around seven years ago and have since spent another £12,000 on it. I just can’t spend anymore on it ( even though I’ve replaced nearly everything 🤣)

Do you want me to put this in the for sale section?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
My hearing is f.u.c.t. but I hear a whine from mine that I suspect no-one else does. Tried swapping tyres front/back and the note changed. Not louder or quieter, just different. None the wiser, but it drives like a dream so why am I worrying ?
What about getting 4-wheel tracking checked ?

I remember once someone telling me, it’s a Land Rover sir they all do that.
Either way I’ll give you a grand. Good luck with the diagnosis...Disco 3 - base player
