Do you mean the driveshaft into the front diff?
If so, it should just push in, and click. It might take a knock with a soft mallet to help it go.

I used a buddy. I lined it up under car and hit used the hammer with a block of wood as to not damage end of shaft. It didn't take but a good tap.

I said to heck with the bearings and forced it in from the hub nut end. With a couple of interconnected rebounds I got it (both) in. Changing the diff seals was PITA but had to be done because it was leaking from one side (I changed both & driveshafts)

Since doing this work the "clonk" changing gears has reduced by 80%. There is still something of course but a fraction of what it was.

Land Rover did have one "gotcha" up their sleeves for me. I used GKN drive shafts which now require a 36mm nut with a sort of free wheeling side. This means that the socket required (at least the one I had) was too wide to go through the centre of the stock Poverty Spec (winter) wheels with the centre cap removed. So I used an air impact driver set to "2" and backed it off a touch. Torque? Who knows. Hopefully around 230.... I know that setting 1 is just shy of 140 NM. Tragically I was agonising about this ..."my nice new GKN driveshaft and I have to torque it to ??? against my almost new Timken bearings" So I took the disco to a self car wash and used ALL of the different programs by way of apology!!
