Going strictly with esthetics if think I would go with 09, as both are going to brake either way, and the premium leather that is in the 09 is as nice if not nicer than in 2011 rrs autobiography + this leather doest crack on the side bolsters as the harder one.
Other thing is that 15 year old car with only 51k means that it only has done 3.4k a year which would most likely mean it has been driven short distances and that isn't the best for turbo diesels.
AND the important one. Check for corrosion. If only the welds on the frame are a bit rusty or the whole frame and rear door jambs next to the wheels cause that is where the rust will crawl out from the sills

Re the brown one have you checked the MOT history?
For some reason it passed on the 1st Feb 2018 and then didn't have another MOT till today.
No MOT from 19/02/2019 till today

We sold our 2010 D4 less than your budget.. 120k FSH & VERY well looked after so you can potentially get a very decent vehicle for the money.. However
Mileage is second to how it has been looked after!
Consider what a newer vehicle offers vs an older one..They basically do the same thing!
Do you really want to go to your maximum budget... OR Keep some in reserve for
Older ones do not suffer the same depreciation. Newer D4 will continue to depreciate (but not as much a a D5 )
Consider what you want to add to the vehicle. And think about what you will remove when you sell it. All Discos and owners like a bit of 'bling' however not everyone likes the same bling! You will NEVER get your money back selling a vehicle with your personal blingy bits on it..
If you add blingy bits and upgrades it always better to buy quality items.
Regardless of what you buy.. Buy LR Rubber Mats. they are the BEST investment and upgrade you can get IMHO
And an IID is ESSENTIAL IMHO
SHAMELESS PLUG: The one I have for sale right now is THE best out of the 7 that i have owned. My worst one was my first one.. it was low miles an still under LR warranty (thankfully). Purchased from LR! Never again!
I have bought Discos from Forum members and sold them and I must say that with almost a no exceptions everyone is a true enthusiast and decent.
Good Luck with it.
BTW.. I wouldn't buy either of them .. but that's just me.. IF you can use a Spanner and a Hammer there are better vehicles to be had IMHO 1 TR6 Rusting away quietly
1 FARR UTV SOLD
1 International Harvester SOLD
7 x D3 all SOLD
2 x D4 both SOLD
1 x Mrs D4 'Panther' SOLD
1 x Outlander van SOLD
1 continual stream of car parts and me living in the garage...

From your post I recon you have made your choice. Go with your heart and get the 2009. Its like fancying a pizza but you get the kebab because its cheaper. You never enjoy it as much.
My D4 does not have a DPV either and its a 2010. Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂
